I need a place to be
A place I need to never leave
Made of pale shadows and
Smoky dreams seen through mirrors
Where color is just the remnants of emotion
And the very air twists the light
Like water in a glass
I want to bathe in heat
And drift between death and sleep
Paralyzed in vague pulses of pleasure
I want a place free of logic and reason
Where I can blend hope and sorrow
And invent hues I’ve never felt before
I want to be dragged under and inhale surrender
To sink soft and slow forever, weaving
In and out of lucidity and euphoria
I want to be warm and safe,
But punctured with regret
To keep my water world from stagnation
I want to be half-bound by chains of golden aspiration
While my other half plays in grand delusion
I want to soak in and drain out glory until I am distilled and clean
And the twisted light shines through me
I want to cast rainbows of things I’ve never felt
And taste it all with my fingertips and eyes
But instead I breathe and disappointedly sit
In my dull reality.

You dress to impress
the make-up will hide who you are
you dress to impress
the lies will hide what you want to be
you dress to impress
so you will be just a shadow

To keep my water world from stagnation
I want to be half-bound by chains of golden aspiration
While my other half plays in grand delusion
that caught the attention of my adjective radar
